Actavis Continue to Boost Actavis Academy Online

Following the launch of the Academy in April 2009, Actavis is delighted to report that over 1,400 pharmacists have registered with the e-learning website, completing over 450 courses between them.

As per Actavis’ promise to continue to provide the support and guidance required by an increasingly challenging industry, Actavis is pleased to announce the addition of a series of new courses, which have recently been launched.

These courses are part of a comprehensive schedule of new courses outlined for 2010. The Academy is set to launch five new retail courses, five new dispensing doctor courses and five new offline training courses along with a number of other exciting ongoing site developments throughout 2010.

Each module is created by experts in their field and is commissioned by Actavis to provide quality NHS and clinical knowledge for all working in modern day pharmacy. New courses available online include:

• Dynamic Dispensaries
Dispensary medicines are at the heart of community pharmacy practice but they are also a source of errors in pharmacy. This course will demonstrate how pharmacists can maximize efficiencies when it comes to handling stock.

• Pharmacy Services Business Opportunities
Service Development in community pharmacy is a government priority in healthcare, and primary care trusts (PCTs). Local health boards are now under increasing pressure to commission a variety of services from pharmacy.

Looking ahead, customers have the ability to lead the way via a feedback button on the Actavis Academy Online front page. This allows pharmacy teams to request specific courses to meet their needs - ensuring the courses Actavis develop meet the learning needs of the pharmacy team today.

Olutayo Arikawe, a pharmacy manager and member of the Actavis Academy Online comments ’I am currently studying for the dynamic dispensaries course and the training materials for this course are ‘five star’– they have already helped me to identify key areas for potential loss in the pharmacy. The Academy is a great resource and I look forward to completing more of the available courses.’

Michael Cann, Director Generics, Actavis UK, comments ‘The Actavis Academy Online is a testament to our commitment to support continuous learning and development within the pharmacy arena. With the changing pharmacy environment and the increasing demands for continuing professional development, the Actavis Academy aims to offer a business and training support partner to pharmacy business through a range of innovative training courses on all aspects of the NHS and pharmacy business.’

The Actavis Academy has been designed to build on the success of the current training programmes offered by Actavis.

Registration is free and provides access to a wide selection of reports and presentations on all aspects of the NHS, daily news, e-learning and regular accredited training courses, all designed to meet the needs of the pharmacy and healthcare industry.
